Born in Amsterdam in 1981, M. van Dijk has spent two decades photographing the city in monochrome: from the slow water of the Brouwersgracht to the cold geometry of the Eastern Docklands.Geboren in Amsterdam in 1981. Twee decennia lang fotografeert M. van Dijk de stad in zwart-wit: van het trage water van de Brouwersgracht tot de kille geometrie van het Oostelijk Havengebied.
Their work has been exhibited at FOAM, Huis Marseille, and the Stedelijk Museum, and is held in private collections across Europe and Japan.Het werk is geëxposeerd bij FOAM, Huis Marseille en het Stedelijk Museum, en is opgenomen in privécollecties in Europa en Japan.

Photographs are made on both film and digital. The medium follows the moment, never the other way around: every frame begins with looking, slowly, until the city composes itself.De foto's worden gemaakt op film én digitaal. Each work is printed on baryta paper, the 140-year-old standard for fine art photography. Its barium sulfate coating reaches a density of 2.3: brilliant whites with intense blacks, razor-sharp contours, no optical brighteners, no lamination. Elk werk wordt gedrukt op barietpapier, de 140 jaar oude standaard voor fine art fotografie. De bariumsulfaat-coating bereikt een dichtheid van 2,3: briljant wit naast intens zwart, haarscherpe contouren, zonder optische witmiddelen, zonder laminering.

Every print leaves the studio with this stamp on the verso, hand-signed and numbered against the strict edition of fifty. It is the only mark that ever appears on a finished work — the watermark you see online never makes it to paper. Elke print verlaat het atelier met dit stempel op de achterkant, gesigneerd en genummerd tegen de strikte oplage van vijftig. Dit is het enige merkteken op het uiteindelijke werk — het watermerk dat u online ziet komt nooit op papier.
